About the art
Inspired by Tyler’s hand-lettered haiku (see below) the choice to print white ink on black paper is a visual representation of light breaking up darkness. The lettering’s chaotic brushstrokes and paint splotch background speak to the nature of how disordered darkness can sometimes feel. However, the relationship between light and dark is necessary—one cannot exist without the other, and this piece captures the beauty that’s created because of it.
